about the author/contact

Diane Gilleland is a craft writer based in - Ahem! OK, I can't go through with writing about myself in third person. Instead, let me introduce myself.

I've been writing craft books and tutorials since 2006. My other two books are Kanzashi In Bloom (Watson-Guptill 2009) and Quilting Happiness (with Christina Lane, Potter Craft 2013). I've also contributed projects to numerous other books and magazines, some of which you can find listed here. My blog is called CraftyPod, and it's full of all kinds of crafts. I've never met a craft I didn't like.

I discovered English paper piecing about five years ago, in the place where I discover just about everything: the internet. I found Mary Ray's tutorial very intriguing, and with my first hexie I was hooked! I loved the simplicity of the technique and how effortlessly it created perfect matching points. (Not to mention, how well it used up my giant stash of fabric scraps!) I started playing with EPP in diamonds, triangles, octagons, and so on, and eventually I decided to write a book.

When I'm not crafting, I'm roasting my own coffee, doing some Tai Chi, or watching cat videos. Got a question? You can email me: diane@allpointspatchwork.com.
